Timing Chain Issue????

I recently installed a timing chain and gears on a 67 289. Before I installed the chain and gears, I was able to easily turn the motor over manually using the big bolt on the crank. Since I installed the new chain, I can no longer turn the motor over using the same big bolt method. Did I screw something up? The motor is out of the car so this would be the time to address this if this is an issue. Also, there is very little to no slack in the chain.

Please help!

as far as having no slack,thats the way it should be.Take the chain off ans spin the cam and crank to see if they still turn,shouldnt be a problem though

What do you think would cause things to bind per se? Is it because the chain is so much tighter now? Less momentum to turn it over?

make sure the gears arent rubbing the block?pull the plugs,release some of the compression maybe?

I'd guess you have compression, remove the spark plugs and see if it helps.

You could stick a business card in-between the chain and the block to check for clearance all the way around both gears (or interference) to quickly locate the source of the problem.
