timing pointer ?

whats the hole on the pointer for, i cant see any numbers on the dampner, where should the light mark be??? any help would be great

if you jack the front of the car up a little bit and get under there you should be able to see the numbers. i think the easiest way to see the pointer/marker whatever it is if you stand on the passenger side of the car.

I use the right edge (the longitudinal straight edge) as my reference point for timing.
As mentioned, paint the marks you desire to set timing to (I paint 10* for reference, and 14*).
