I have a 93 mustang gt, and I was wondering if I would need to change any thing if I added more timing from the stock 8degrees to 13degrees(more or less)..

Yup, choose the gas that you want to run in the future. Go fill up with a tank of it and then time away.

It's a totally free mod (if you have the timing light and the tank already filled up)

14* should not be a problem if you are using premium gas. However YMMV so be careful!

Yep, if you have to switch to higher octane to accomodate a timing bump, you went too far. The gains will be insignificant considering the octane difference in pump gas (race gas is a whole 'nother ball game).

So like Steve and Bernie said, choose an octane and then time around it.

Good luck.

I think 10* is the recommended setting from the factory, not 8*.

Pretty much all gasoline engines will be about 10* BTDC, it's about as common as using the #1 cylinder to time everything else off of in lieu of TDC.

You wouldnt really need a timing light.

Just turn the distributor a little. If your advancing the timing the idle will raise a little.

Take it for a drive and make sure there is no pinging. Give it some RPM's and Throttle when testing, mine didnt ping under 50% throttle and 3k rpm.
