Can I mess something up if I lower the timing to much? I'm trying to solve my starage engie surge at 5-6k RPM. The car will rev up much fast but the car stops pulling. I have to ease off the gas before It gets to that RPM. This only happens when going onto the highway before the 2-3 gear shift. Do you think it could be a timing issue, or a transmission issue? I have a 93 oct tune from MPH.

the lower the timing the hotter the exhaust side of things will get, don't want to burn a valve. you shouldn't have to go that low though, i would look at other areas before timing. If you don't have a wideband on it, try to get one or even put it on a dyno to see what is happening. Datalogging is your friend. You can chase something like this for a long time when it would be a simple matter to hook up a few sensors and log what is going on.
