Alright.. I saw this thread a few minutes ago and went outside to get a few pictures. Keep in mind my camera is cheap and you'll notice it rather quickly.

I paid $120 to get 5 windows done and that included removing the tint on the back (major PITA to do yourself.. I Tried!) and quarter panel windows. I went with the legal limit in my state. (20% on side, 5% on back I believe)

At night, I have a hard time looking out of the rear view due to the tint being a bit too dark, though I can still see out of it. View attachment 463132 View attachment 463134 View attachment 463136

I just had mine re-tinted because it was too light. The first job was $170 at this giant professional type place. The redo was only $130 cash, at a different place. It's much darker and I think it's a better job than the first one. The 130 included taking off the first light tint job.
I don't have pics of the new darker tint yet but here's the first stuff. I'm not sure of percentage but he told me it's as dark as you can go legally. Legal tint sucks.

Mine now looks about like d98gt's tint above.

Yeah, It's important to check your state tint laws, because not passing inspection over tint is pretty lame.

I had a friend get tint from the same place on his truck, and when it came time to get inspected, It registered an 18% instead of 20% so he went back to the tint guy, which took the tint off (to pass inspection) then put 5% all around for $20 (tint price).

Well, I guess you could pay extra for inspectors that will let you slide (happens often for exhaust around here) or find a way around it

It's best to go with a legal tint however.

Does your guys' tint jobs include lifetime replacement, even if you do it on purpose/it's your fault (pissed off and knife your tint or something...?)
Around here it runs about 225-250 for a tint job but that's with a lifetime warranty that includes free replacment for ANY damage/peeling/purpling/anything (although the guarantee also guarantees peeling and purpling to never happen). JW if this is a PIITB price or if that warranty is why.

I didn't get a lifetime, though I did get a 2 year warranty. Anything that I complain about will be fixed in that time period.

The guy which did mine also does colored tint and offered to put tint that mathes my paint to say "Mustang" on the rear window(all around it would still be black), though I declined.

I am somewhat considering getting him to redo my rear window. I thought about bringing him the "running pony" picture and getting him to put some chrome-like tint in the shape of it, then put the rest back to how it was. Kinda hard to explain and im sure I confused a lot of people :(

Make sure you look around your area for a reputable shop to do
your tint work on your car.(sorry no pics) I had to tint my car twice
to get it right so, look around for a place that knows what they are doing.
I payed $173.00 the first time and $160.00 the second time to have my
windows tinted sides, quarters, and back.I have 5% tint and it is very dark
at night and it isn't that easy to see at night. In the day it is perfect though.
I recommend getting your tint done to your state law to avoid any kind of
trouble from the pigs.

I'm just getting my rear window re-tinted for $120 since I'm getting a new canvas top put on today. They charge $120 because of the difficulty of doing a convertible top.

It's worth it though. Had a joe-schmoe shop do it last time and it took THREE times for them to get it right. Why can't anyone cut a damn straight line nowadays?!

I have 5% on the rear window and I love it. I can't stand driving around in an untinted car as all the headlights behind me blind me at night. I do admit though, it can be a PITA sometimes to look around at night. Oh well, it's worth it!

Convertible rear windows are just as easy to tint as a rear window
on a coupe.$120.00 is a big ripoff just for the back window it sounds
like they are trying to make some extra money off you I would go
somewhere else. For a little more you could get your whole car retinted
probably. mustangkid- It is worth paying $200.00 to have your windows
tinted if the job is done correctly.I would rather pay more and have it done
right than pay less and have it screwed up by a moron.Good luck with
your tinting work mustangkid.
