We used a transparent black basecoat, and then cleared them. To my surprise, they still light up real nice through the transparent black.

Damn, it's not like that car isn't already sick as hell, but it would be perfect with a set of gunmetal colored wheels.

Cost was about $40 in product.(helps to work in a bodyshop) First i sanded the lights with 1500grit wet sand paper, then we mixed up some Nason transparent black basecoat, made by Dupont. The tricky part was to get it to the level of darkness u are looking for. You also want to make sure its even or else it will look blotchy. The transparent black is like a candy, so the more layers u apply, the darker it'll get. After achieving the darkness i was looking for, the clearcoat was then applied.

I had smoked tails like that, cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket....$110. Actually the fine was for both the tinted tails & tinted side windows.
Be warned...... Looks good though
