Who has done this and what problems did you run into?

I looked under the car and it looks like the starter might be in the way on the passenger side. Can anyone with an FSM let me know what to do to remove it?

Any help appreciated. I bought the Energy Suspension Tranny and Motor Mounts.......red of course!

I was reading my Haynes manual on the crapper this morning (like every morning) and happened to be reading about changing this. If you get a Haynes manual you will have the information you seek...

you have to drop the K-member. Once you have about 6-8 inches of space between the K-member and the frame, then you can remove them. And no, you dont have to remove the starter. There is only 1 bolt over there and you can get it with starter in place.

Thanks, Dave, that is exactly the info I was looking for. I have access to a lift and it didn't look difficult but I wasn't sure if putting the hood the whole way back and lifting the engine would be enough. I guess a combo of the two will work well ! Tranny mount came in yesterday (it was on backorder) so I guess I can get to work now.

You actually dont even have to support the motor. Trans will only let the motor go down so far

Man, WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! The passenger side motor mount was almost broke the whole way through. I ended up removing the starter (that 3rd upper bolt was a bear, a freind would have been very helpful) to remove that side. And I can actually rev out first before shifting now....and burnouts are a ton easier too.

I could see how removing the K member would make it easy, but on the 99, that looked like a TON more work than removing the starter. Was I missing something? I have owned 12 66 and 68 Mustangs, an 86 and the current 92 over the years, so getting under the front end of this was a new area for me (never touched the 86 or 92 yet) and I'm always willing to learn...but the K member idea just doesn't make sense!

I recommend these mounts to all owners of these cars with over 50K on them. At 72K, my mounts were way gone.....
