If on my tire it says "max load 1477 lbs at max pressure 44psi" how do I figure out max load at like 40psi?

You can't. You don't really have the proper testing equipment.

But for a rough estimate, 40psi is 90% of 44psi so i'd say 1329 pounds?? Just a guess though.

I agree...are you really going to load your car up enough that it tops 6000 pounds??

Sorry the story is funny. The question is about my DD a 99 Dakota that is lowered 2/3 and has 17 in. RT wheels with 255/40/17 tires. I live in tallahassee and work for Publix. I had to go the store down the street and get some floor stripper and sealer. It ended up being 22 boxes at 5 gallons a piece. So if a gallon of water weighs 8.6 lbs then I was hauling 946 lbs. Almost a half ton. I got a flat tire on the way back to the store while I was on the clock hauling floor stirpper for the store, and i have to prove that the tire was overloaded and if I hit a rock, or bump too hard the tire would go flat where as in a normal circumstance it wouldn't. I had the tires at 40 psi. The tire store inspected it and and determined that the cause of the failure was due to overloading. As a side note Neece tire center in tallahassee fl is awesome. I have never got such great customer service. In the end it isn't so funny, not nearly as much as it sucks.
