I wonder what the largest width tire will fit on our cars? I want to get some drag radials and rims, but need to know what works with what back space and rim size.
Pics would be great!!!!! Ill probably have 15x8 rims but if wider will fit without sticking out the car I would like that.

I take it you want welds? Why? They are a waste IMO.

Go with some 17X10.5 FR500 wheels and a 315-350R17 Nitto. +27mm offset and a little over 7" backspacing. This will fit your car with no quads and stock Fox length axles.

Ya, unless it's a race car, they are useless.

Hey, I like my welds. Ok, what are your plans for the car? Show, or mostly a track car? Actually my car is a weekend warrior but it has welds rodlites on it. Work fine for the street or the track.

Im making a weekend cruiser for some track use and show. I was wanting a set of cobra knock offs or some pony's. My main question was what was the widest tire would go on those rims, I should have been more specific.

I think you should be more specific on the rim height you are using.
The shorter the rim, the more flex the sidewall is going to have going around turns.
Which effects rubbing.
For normal street use, i'd say on a 17 inch rim, you are going to have to stay 265 or less.

I run a 275 35 18 drag radial, and took some doing to not get them to rub. Mind you, the bfg drags is this size, run wide. Tires are like sneakers, different brands run wider and narrower.
When i have to do this again, i will downsize my tire to a 265.

We assumed the welds because you said 15 inch, pretty much no other rims these days are 15 inch.
Ponies are 16, cobra replicas are usually 17.

Yeah, I have some crappy 15's on there now, and just need an upgrade. Its got 225 50 15's on it now. I might just keep those rims and use them with a radial and get some pony's for the road.
