Tire size on 17 x 9 please help

I just purchased a set of 98 style cobra r wheels they are 17 x 9 with 20 mm offset what is the size tire to run with out rubbing in the front and what woud be the widest tire i can put on the back.My car is a 93 gt with the stock ride height and stock a arms

many people get away with 255s up front and some even with 275s, i dont see how because i have a gt and 245s rubbed so i went with 225, and he car is lowered so that may be the reason...you can probably get away with 255s

im running a 245/45/17 on 17x9's, and theyre waaay too narrow for that width of wheel. a 255 or 265 wide tire would work well, espically with the '93s having the larger wheel well (my 245's rub the front fender spat on too sharp a turn, and even the old turbines would do it occasionally, would be eliminated with a 91+ fender and spat)

I run 255/40s up front and 275/40s out back, I think it looks great.

It *sometimes* rubs at full lock. I need to get a rack limiter or some tubular A arms

The good set up is 245/45/17s up Front and 275/40/17s out back as the have almost identical Tire Diameters!

I have 275-40 on the back and 225-45 on the fornt of my 86 notch

245/45/17'S Rim width recommendation is 7.5min--9.0max. Thats what the specs read How is it way to narrow for the wheel. I have 17x9 on mine with that size and they are fine. When I turn full lock to the left it rubs, but I am almost positive the wheel rubs not the tire. I agree I need to go with wider rear tires but the 245 is a good fit.

I just purchased mine not to long ago 17x9's with 245/45's and got a little rub near full lock. Only suspension stuff done is in my sig. If you go to the nitto site they have a tire sizing chart there which will also show if it fits your rim.

technically theyre fine on a 17x9, its not like theyre going to fall off, but visually (at least to me) they are way too narrow. the side wall of the goodyears on my car is barely as wide as the wheel. just pushing that tire a little too far for my tastes.

i'm running 17x9 chrome cobra r's all around. the fronts are 245/45's, and i dont like the look. they are basically flush with the rim (bad for curbs!). if i ever get new rims, i'll probably get smaller fronts than rears. no issues with rubbing in the front. running 275/40's in the rear, and they rub on the fender lip (very little) under high speed dips (160+km/h) in the road and hard cornering. 275's on 17x9's look WAY better than a smaller tire.

Tire size on 17 x 9 please help
