Will a 295/65/15 on a 15*8 rim with a 5.5in backspcing fit on a 92 lx?

no, and it will stick out some kinda bad. We made that mistake with 275/60/15 drag radials once. They rubbed on launches and good bumps and stuck out more then an inch outside the car.

I run a 275/60/15 now on these rims and they fit. sounds like you had a 4.5 in backspacing.

yeah we had the 4.5 b/s but its also not recommended to put a 295 on an 8 inch wheel due to a huge amount of bulge

I know a lot of guys that run the drag radil class run a 325/50/15 on an 8 in rim. I'm just wondering if its too tall

I run a 275/60/15 on a 15x8 w/5.5 back spacing and it hits one tailpipe....it's tight. The 295 will probably rub the fender and rub the insides while turning. A 65 series tire would be like a big balloon. I would not recommend it.
