When I bought my car, the dealership forced me to also buy this "Tires for Life" deal. $299 and I get new tires every time the tread gets to 2/32. IMO this is way too low, and forces you to drive on dangerous tires for some time before you get your new ones. Anyway, my fronts were at 3/32 and rears at 4/32 and I called them up and they said don't worry about it, we'll do it. The only thing is, I don't get to choose the tires. I just picked it up this afternoon. They're Kumho 245/45ZR17 "Ecsta Supra" tires. Does anyone know anything about these? Do they suck or did I get good tires? Thanks for the opinions.

Wow!! Tires for life? Hmmm..... I don't think I'd make that offer to a new Mustang owner.

They are ok in the corners once heated up, but you will never get traction with them off the line.

in the corners? i have never used such an unpredictable tire when cornering.... now granted the strait line traction is worse then the cornering... (am guessing they are the 712s.... or do they have a "lower" supra type)

but yeah, for 299 its a good deal, as long as there is not an adendum stating they can only be replaced in a certain period of time (1 set every year or so). once they get to the point you think its dangerous just go to an empty parking lot and literally burn them till they get into "spec" for replacement. once the back is in spec just jack the car up, switch the front to the rear, and repeat. if you dont feel safe on them, burn them till replaced.

kinda like that whole college replacement thing i remember. buy the laptop, pay 300 or so, and after 3 years use it as an anchor for the fishing trip.. take it back in and they replace it free.... they dont care the reason as long as you had the paper... do the same with the tires.

The 555's are ok for daily driving. Don't expect alot out of them at the strip or in the rain.

The 555R's are better at the strip but even worse in the rain!
