i dont know hoew different the 500 to the 600 is but i had a garage grind off the tack welds and slide the crossmember all the way back and tack weld it in place. then i purchased a 31 spline yoke for the trans. i bought a package from d and d performance which included the trans bellhousing clutch and yoke for 2200 bucks shipped to my door in 2 days. the transmission comes with a tremec shifter. all u need is a handle and i bought an adjustable handle from mgw for like 20 bucks.

You'll need a 26 spline clutch disc
31 spline driveshaft yoke
remove tack welds from stock cross member, slide it all the way back and re-weld
If trans is new it comes with a shifter and only needs a handle like ShortThrow said.
I don't think a stock bellhousing will work, but I could be wrong.
Call the guys at D&D. They will hook you up with whatever you need. Good prices, nice people and they know their stuff. Here's their number.

They have cast iron shift forks in them. I doubt you are going to bend them unless you are powershifting mad ponies. I've powershifted my TKO before and it just laughs at me like "Is that all you got?"

What's the difference between the 500 and the 600?

Gear ratios and torque capacity are the only differences I believe.

Ratios on the 500's are: 1st 3.27, 2nd 1.97 3rd 1.34, 4th 1.00, 5th .68 with torque capacity of 500

Ratios on the 600's are: 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.0, and for fifth you can get .82 or .64 with torque capacity of 600

Call the guys at pro-motion. They know their stuff about the tko setups.
http://www.promotionpowertrain.com/1971777.html

And you shouldn't be slamming gears without a shifter with stops. The internal stops on the tko's can break off, and then you grind them up in the trans. I'm sure you know thats not good.
Promotion has a billet stops piece that gets put on the shifter that comes from tremec. Buy it, it's only like $80.

You also need an extended clutch fork for the lakewood bellhousing. Or the leverage will be all wrong. (i learned the hard way).

Also, i have a 600, but i would rather have the ratios of the 500.
In the tko600, first gear is too long for my taste.
The .64 5th will also end all your highway racing, because the drop in rpms is pretty extreme, drops you right out of the power band.

The TKO 500 has a 10 spline input so you can keep your clutch. You will have to replace your bellhousing, Modify your stock or buy an HPM crossmember, purchase 31 spline yoke for your driveshaft and the TKO should come with a shifter(not the handle). If you do end up getting a TKO600 plan on getting at least 3.55 gears in the rear. I personally like the longer 1st and 2nd but only with some gears.

Edit to my earlier post, the T5 and TKO I think are different bellhousings. I installed my TKO600 with a quicktime bell, and it is listed for T5, TKO 500/600, but I forgot it has a few tranny bolt patterns.
