Ok.. so if i want the best of both worlds... (acceleration and decent cruising capabilites) Would the TK0 600 with the .82 5th gear ratio be my best bet?

And going with the TK0 600 would give me the advantage of having the 26 spline setup which is superior to the 10 spline... (they do make a 26 spline tko500 though)

And another few questions cause im kind of uneducated when it comes to this stuff..

But will the Cast Iron Stock replacement flywheel work with the TK0 trannys' 26 spline setup?

And at summit they sell two centerforce clutch kits for the 5.0 (26 spline) one is 10.4 inches in diameter... the other is 11... which one is the correct one?

Thanks for the help guys.

The .82 5th gear was designed for the road race crowd. The idea was that there is less RPM drop between 4th & 5th gear. For a street or drag race car, you will probably never get to 5th gear.
For best highway economy, choose a trans with .68 or .64 for 5th gear.

This chart is for a T5 and stock diameter tires, but it will give you some ideas on what the .6x 5th gear will be like.

See http://www.corral.net/tech/gearcalc.html for a calculator that you can input your own values into for more accurate results.

Stock flywheel will work with no mods.

Unless you have a wild engine combo (NO2 or pressurized induction) stick with a King Cobra pressure plate for a street/strip car. Do something different if it is a strip only car. A 10.5" Chevy clutch disk will mate with the TKO 600's 26 spline input shaft. See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ or http://www.ddperformance.com for transmissions or clutches. You'll get the best advice on what fits & why from them.

Thanks for all the information and help. Ive almost got everything together...

As far as the Starter Index Plate aka Block Plate aka Spacer Plate goes... will the one from ford made for the T5 work with the TK0 600?

Im getting the 600 with the .068 OD... and have everything else pretty much picked out and ready to order...
