Well, I ordered a my new interior for my 65 FB that consisted of new TMI pony sport seats in black with white centers and white pony door panel (along with the rest of the dash parts, seatbelt, console, carpeting etc...).

I just got around to opening all the boxes today when I noticed that while the sport seats are actually from TMI the pony door panels are from Dashes Direct. When I layed the door panels next to the center of the black and white upholstery I realized that the whites are way off. The TMI white is more of an ivory creme, while the pony door panels are more of a greyish white.

So, I was wondering what options do I have for the doors now? I was originally planning on painting the interior panels black with white pony door panels. Do I go all black paint with black door panels and white headliner, or do I go all white paint with black door panels and headliner?

Any opinions would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Well, first I'd sit the seat in the interior of the car and put the door panel up and see how far off they are. Thing is, they're not right next to each other and the light will hit them a bit differently. If they're pretty close, you might not notice.

Now if they're if they're sorta far off, an option would be to have the door panels dyed to match the seats.

More importantly, what color is the car? A black car? Sorta reminds me of a tuxedo, would look really classy I think.

I spoke with the people at MP and I guess that TMI does make pony door panels but they sent me Dashes Direct panels. Since my upholstery is TMI, I am having them send me a set of TMI door panels and I am going to send back these Dashes Direct panels. Hopefully these will be a better match, but who knows....

My car is black:

I'm glad you posted pic's. My car is white and I've considered doing the black on white interior myself.

The car is looking good kermit. Do you have many miles on that 342 yet? How's it run?

Sentipede, I've got the same rims on my coupe and they look sweet on your fastback.

Gonzo - That looks great! We have the same taste, I just picked up a billet grill as well. Is the reason you went with black door panels due to the fact that you couldnt get the white to match? In your pictures the white on the seats appears to be pure white, is it more of an off-white in person? The seats I picked up are the pony sport seat versions by TMI with the side bolsters and rounded headrests, very similar.

Jimmy66 - Thanks for the compliment...:)

Thanks again!

You car will look so much better with this combo over the Ivy combo you had in there.

The TMI color sounds a little more correct than the Dashes Direct color. I cannot say for sure, but I am told the Dashes Direct panels are a little nicer.

After looking at Gonzo's interior, if you are still not satisfied with the white panels, the black does not look all that bad.
