to everyone who cant afford an electric fan..

i got tired of mine.. i dont have near the money or time to upgrade the electrical system right now so i've decided to go to a straight mechanical fan... advanced or pep boys.. you can buy the reverse blade fan and spacer.. its a cheap and easy way to add ponies.. i know what the car felt like before and what it feels like now.. nothing different than before.. just as strong.. so to anyone who wants a few ponies that arent noticeable with a easy install.. and it all is hidden under the stock shroud.. pick one up.. like 8.50 for the adapter and im fairly certain it was 29.99 for the fan itself.. just trying to help out..

What is the point of the spacer...and with a reverse blade, is it not pushing air into the radiator instead of sucking in into the engine bay?

spacer moves the fan out away from the belt and accesorys.. it'll creme the belt and all otherwise.. reverse blade because our water pumps are reverse rotation water pumps.. spin backwards.. i stuck a old fashioned hotrod one i had left over from my eleanor.. yea.. it pushed air alright.. the wrong way

I use a 130a 94 mustang alternator and a switch with a 75a relay.

I wouldnt run an SN95 fan on a 2G alternator (that was a point in the opening post), nor would I do it on a daily driver with a switch.

The point of the thread wasnt what the best set-up is or what people themselves run, but to provide info for folks who cant afford a new clutch and arent sure what to do.

That said, I'm not sure how a direct drive fan is less parasitic than a clutched fan.

I know on most of them the blades flatten out at a certain rpm creating less drag. Don't know if it's enough to cause less drag than a clutch setup though.

The blade flattening is true for flex fans - I missed that he got a flex fan.

I picked up a lincoln mark VIII fan at my local junk yard for 23.00 Installed a switch and a relay , And the stock electrical systemis doing just fine. And its much better than a clutch fan.
