Depends on how strict your area is. If you have MIL eliminators, your car will pass the code test, but will fail visual, since you have no cats. My suggestion is to go to a place you trust that won't look under your car

I agree. If you take it to a place that does an OBD II scan, you will pass as long as you have MIL's or a custom chip to turn the rear o2 sensors off. If you go to a place that goes by visual inspection, then you wont pass unless if you have some sort of converter system. I have mac hi-flow cats on my setup but they were expensive. Nearly 300 dollars between the price of the cats and installation fees.

Gut the cats and just weld the shell around the pipe.
You'll pass.

I have the Bassani catted Xpipe. PA does the sniffer test and with only 500 miles on the cats the car just barely passed emmissions (HydroCarbons: 75; limit:76) Good luck passing the sniffer test with aftermarket cats. I'm sure there are some aftermarket ones better than others but none come close to OEM. Bassani/Catco brand SUCKS!

You'll make better power without the cats...just make some friends at one of the emissions places so they don't look under the car.

What if you have a direct relative that owns a shop, they can just pass you right?

Probably a dumb question ...

If you add cats don't add catco if thats what Bassani uses or used to use. Weld two magnaflow cats up there (CarSound brand). they sell them off magnaflow's website
