So i have a relativley stock 302 in my 69 mustang, and as winter approaches i have to start allocating how im gonna spend my money on the car this summer. Now she is my daily driver. But id love to get rid of that sluggish manual 4 speed and put a 5 speed and better rear gears in to get the most of the 8 cylinder, and the locker thats out back. Any tips or suggestions on how to go about this. Any one have any experiance with any of the kits available?

I'm just about done with my T5/rear end swap and just a heads up that it's not cheap (I have almost 3K invested with a rebuilt T5/9"). IMO you should just start with a nice set of gears. Buy the best parts you can afford. Ratio depends on what kind of driving you'll do and how much you care about gas mileage. What gears do you currently have?

I've done the whole T-5 and rear end. Like 1967coupe said, it depends on how much you want to spend. If money is an issue, then I would do the T-5 first. With the gearing ratios, a T-5 and 302 will give your car the attitude of a stock 351W with a 4 speed. As for costs, it all depends on what you can do. I fabbed up my whole cable clutch system, so my only cost for that was the cable itself. What do you feel comfortable with doing by yourself?
