To those 'Stang owners with CORSA exhaust

Installed mine today

Just installed my Corsas today. I'm not mechanically inclined, but fortunately my father is in town visiting, so the two of us got them on with no problem. My initial impressions (which may differ from those of other Corsa owners):

1) Startup - slightly louder, perhaps with a touch of gurgle (I like that)
2) Idle - virtually no difference from stock...there is some, but certainly only a difference an owner of his own car will notice.
3) Cruising - really nice sound, somewhat meaner. 3500 rpm going up a hill with buildings on both sides and i got a REALLY cool sound...much different sound from stock. Had me grinning from ear to ear, and I looked over at my dad and got a nod from him (his way of saying that they sound cool).
4) WOT - nice roar
5) Interior - absolutely ZERO drone.

Exterior appearance: The tips on these things are very nice looking! When hung, they centered perfectly, but one side was lower than the other (so were my stock mufflers). Easily fixed with a bolt through the hole above the rear hanger and some gutter pipe strip attached with two nuts to that bolt. Perhaps a little too mickey mouse for some, but it works for me (and you can't see anything even if down on your knees two feet away from the tips). They hang perfectly.

Overall impression: Not as much difference from stock as I was expecting. But I'm still pleased overall, particularly with the sound in the 3-3500 rpm range, and I also like the look. If you're looking for something to wake the neighbors, or something that will rumble as you cruise down the street, I would not recommend the Corsas. If want a slightly meaner, but still somewhat refined sound, these are great (particularly if you are concerned with drone).

Corsa Install

I got my system installed on my '06 GT 'vert this morning. Had a little trouble getting the old driver's side muff off-finally loosened the fwd hanger bracket and got it off. The Corsas went on very easily. My only problem is the passenger side tip hangs an inch or so low. Haven't gotten it right yet- the driver's side is positioned perfect. The instructions called for tightening the muffler clamps to 45 ft/lbs, haven't gotten the torque that high yet, they don't seem to be tightening up that much yet.
The sound is very nice, not too loud but just about right. I'm a tad discouraged about not being able to get the alignment just perfect but I will.
These mufflers appear to be very high quality pieces. I plan to call Corsa's tech help line Monday for any suggestions on solving the minor alignment problem. :nice:

if you cant align them, try ine of these tips.

1. bend the rods that go to the hangers for better alignment. sometimes they get bent during shipment.

2. loosen the clamps at the H pipe. you will need a helper for this. when the clamps are loose, adjust the mufflers so they fit the bumper. tighten the clamps, then they should be aligned, right where you left them.

Just installed the CORSAS on my '06 GT this weekend

GOLDENPONY, I'm a NOOB here at StangNet, just bought my '06 GT in February. :D I have been reading everything here for a month or so just taking in all of the advice everyone has. I just installed CORSAs mufflers this Saturday with the exact same alignment problem you have. I tried to back it off the pipe a little like the instructions recommended to raise the tip but that did not work. Sunday I installed the CORSA x pipe and the problem fixed itself. I guess it is a good thing I bought that as well.

After all said and done it sounds great. Definitely loud enough when it needs to be.

just installed corsa mufflers today. i did it in my driveway/garage. I put the rearend of on car on ramps so it gave me some room to work underneath.

It sounded nice. just loud enough with a vert. my wife loved the sound when i was driving away on my way to work.

i am having the same alignment problem a few of you guys have been talking about on the passenger side. I'll have to work on it in the up coming days. it must be a factory problem because it seems to be very common.

Great choice. Congrats!

I just got mine, paid for Tuesday, arrived today, not bad!

$561 shipped. Now to get them installed!

By the way, anyone know how much the stock exhaust weighs? I know Corsa doesn't advertise like Borla does on them being lighter than stock, but I wonder if all that anti-drone stuff increases their weight.

The Corsa's weigh 51lbs according to UPS! I guess it will help my weight distribution and traction out back, lol.

**UPDATE***

Called Corsa, they weigh 35lbs, about 4.5lbs less than stock. UPS's weight is based off dimensions of the box, etc.

Well mine are coming off and being placed aside for now. The reason is that they're too quiet. Having a supercharged car, it means that WOT is not often on the menu with all the traffic we get here in the UK so the blare on WOT is a rare occurence.

As a result, I'm getting a stainless steel copy of a Loudmouth made up by the local exhaust fabricator so I can savour the loud rumble as I drive along. It's what it's all about. I can then change to the Corsas if I ever need it for a long journey.

The X-Pipe didn't really change the rumble much but you could feel a difference.

I wonder? I just ordered MAC Axlebacks from brenspeed and they are on the way...anyway UPS is saying the package is 35 lbs...I wonder if those are even lighter yet?

No offense, but I think the person that you talked to at Corsa is on drugs. They are much heavier than stock- but still worth every penny!!
