Here's what I said in that thread...

Can a 94-95 run 12's on stock untouched E7's... certainly. Given the right setup, driver, track, etc it can be done. Will it be a fair comparison to what a guy with H/C/I runs on street tires in full weight form... no. If you run skinnies, drag wheels, slicks, 4.30's, remove everything not needed, powershift the hell out of it and run 12's...is that combo any better than.....

I will be the first to admit I never thought a full street trim 94-95 with stock heads would run 12's. I do wonder how you did it without powershifting and with full interior, etc but you've given me no reason to doubt you in the time you've been here so I won't. Again, I say congrats. You must realize though that your weight is VERY light for a full street trim car, even if its a GTS. 3200lbs with driver is EXTREMELY light for a 94-95, I could only dream of such a weight. I'm trying my hardest to get in under 3600lbs this year with skinnies and such. I'm not stating this as an excuse, but as a reminder to those hoping to duplicate your performance.

What's the overall diameter of those tires? They look like they'd be close to ~28". If they are, did you cross the line in 3rd or 4th? Do those tires require heat to get sticky like a DR?

paul... you werent the one who offended me. I just went beyond your expectations, it was the others who made really crappy comments about my goal, and setup.


i did powershift 4th

the tires are 26.0 inches tread is 10.0 sidewall width is 10.4

I know my car is very light... and most bolton cars shouldnt expect to come close.

when I cross in 4th, my speedometer is dead on.... as with the nittos, it is a little high

Cool, thanks for the reply. I've tried to be careful in what I say in the stock head/thumper head threads because anything is possible, especially when someone sets a goal and does what is needed to obtain it. Now that you know what it did in street form, rip the pass seat out and put the shortbelt on!!!

I asked about the tires because the sidewall looked rather big and I knew you had 3.73's. A 28" tire with 3.73's "may" have allowed you to cross in 3rd. Are those tires a radial or a bias ply. I think you already stated it but I couldn't find it.

I was thinking of ways to improve further on your times. Have you tried to lock the distibutor down and run with the spout out? I've known guys to run quicker at the track when doing this. I've never done it so I don't know if it works or not. I think the shortbelt and removed pass seat might put you into the low 12.8's high 12.7's at ~106mph.

yeah pulling it is safe i did it for a day....felt more down low and mid but the high sucked....it did solve all my pining problems....i had it at 25* i probly could have upped it to gain more upper power but didn't play that much

Just an FYI...
I tried the SPOUT out on my car just for kicks, and it wouldn't rev past 4500. This was before I had an MSD box. Many others have had the same problem trying it without a ignition box...

yeah it's safe. I've ran without the spout in almost all my 5.0's. Road raced, drag raced and street driving and never had a problem.

With 94/95 cars it usually helps the idle and detonationn issues some cars have as well.

25° is too low to lock it out at for an N/A 302 thought. I'd start at 28° min and work up from there. Most stocke headed cars will want 32-36° to run best but you'll have to play around to find the best number for your car.

BTW - 3200 lbs is very light! My 95GT has a bunch of stuff removed (PS, A/C, rear seat, everything from the trunck, mach 460, front swaybar, Bogart drag wheels etc...) and still tips the scales at near 3300 with me in it and very little fuel. You should be very happy with such a light car!

yes... its my saving grace..

lowest weight ever with the seats in was 3210 usually about 3240 .... I just had all kinds of crap in my car on that run and more gas
