I'm considering upgrading my springs, shocks, and struts with my stimulus package check this May. My budget is about $600. So my question is would the Tokico HPs be a good/cheaper alternative for a daily driver? I may visit the track 3 days a year but thats about it. I know people go on and on about how good the D-Specs are and I'd love to have them but there just too expensive. The springs I'm considering are the Steeda UltraLights and Eibach Pro-Kits. My goal is to lower the car, have it handle better, and ride smooth.

went through the same dillema, and just ordered the dspecs today because of all of the rave reviews. I just thought that if i was going to mess with my perfectly good new car, i'd try to get the best parts for the money. I'll let u know how they feel when installed.

i have the ultra lites and i am very happy with how the car sits. if i were you i would shop around a couple of companies by phone. i got a better deal on mine then what the internet prices were. but if you have to wait to get the d specs do it, you will hate that the best were only 200 more. i would wait another month and get the real deal.

I would definitely save for the D-Specs. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the HP's, but you may, or may not be happy with them. You know you'll be happy with the D-Specs. Buy the D-Specs with your stimulus and save for the springs.

I have the HP's on my '07 and they are great. I had the D-Specs on my '05 and they were fine. If you racing your STANG then get the D-Specs.

Just curious... After installing the Steeda ULs did you need an adjustable pan hard arm bar to even the rear end out?

Also, if anyone knows where I could get a cheaper price on the D-Specs let me know.

cheaper than what? J&M sells them for $503 with free shipping.

i discussed this with a vendor recently. i have a good relationship with them and they are honest with me. they said the HPs are not that much cheaper, and are not as good as the Dspecs, so go with the Dspecs. HPs are a good option, but the Dspecs are so much better for just a little bit more.

Stang Suspension are also great people. They even call you to follow up and ask how your install went.

I was thinking cheaper then $539 shipped. Whats a site or phone number for J&M? Also at one time I seen a set of used D-Specs with 15,000 miles on them on ebay for around $300 +shipping. I was hesitant to buy them because of being used and having that many miles on them. What do you think the life of these shocks and struts are?

Not sure on the life of them. A guess would be 60-100k

Another vote on spending just a little more for the Dpecs.
I picked mine up for 503 and found a prokit for sale on a forum new for 150.

it was off alittle. i was fine, but i got the adj pan bar just because that is the way i am. i did keep both spring isolaters in though. it is not a great picture but this is how it sat once it settled. i got it aligned once i did the springs and than redid it after i but the pan hard bar in, to my suprise the springs settled enough to put the alignment out. i wish i could take some more pictures but i am not near the car. the wheels are 18"

Sorry to hijack the thread, anyone know where a good starting adjustment is on the Dspecs - daily driver little track time?

Careful buying used D Specs. If they were installed with an air impact then they could be compromised. The D Specs matched with a good spring are untouchable short of coil-overs. The range of adjustment from comfort to strict road race will fit any S197's goals and expectations, IMHO.

Check out Tillman - they were selling D Specs for $475 delivered. Add another $30 for remote adjusters and you're all set.
