Hey guys, Im just looking for second opinions on my car. I recently took it off the road to try and sell it because im frustrated with it. I blew the axle tube out of the center section and second gear in the tranny is shot I think. I've had to re-fabricate the drivers side strut tower and subframe in the wheel well because it was so badly rotted. But im at a point where I dont know if the car is worth fixing. The previous owners whipped the **** out of the car and fed it tons of nitrous and the motor stumbles off of idle and the MIL is on. Im just really saddened about the whole car seeing as I wanted one for years and I got shafted on this deal. I also just spent 2 grand on the car rebuilding the front end consisting of coil springs, struts, wheel berings, brakes, brake lines, and new power booster and master cyl. I mean the car has alot of good points but theres alot of bad points too. Overall the car is solid but I just dont know.

Well, the stumbling and engine light really aren't that big of a deal more than likely.

If you pull the trans, a small parts rebuild shouldn't cost you more than $500.

For the rear, just get a used one from a junkyard. $250 maybe in good condition, maybe less.

If those numbers are outside your budget, then no it's not worth saving, but if can afford that much, save it.

Does it burn any oil? If not and the torque boxes aren't aren't torn up, i wouldn't worry about how bad it was beat on before you.

I say stick with it. It may take a little more time than you want with saving money for parts. However, I am a firm believer in saving foxes from the junk yard.

My 89 I am partially restoring has made me want to give up because of the amount of work it needs. But at the end it will be worth it. Reading some of other people's build threads on this site and others helps with motivation.

Just remember anything can be fixed or replaced if you have patience and willpower to overcome some of the issues along with it. Money is hard to come by sometimes, but I do what I can with what I have until I can afford to do more. Also I am not ever adding up the final cost of putting mine back on the road. It's my hobby and I try to have fun with it. Good luck!

I recently found a t-5 for $100 and a posi 8.8 out of a 5.0 for $150 even if the t-5 is shot ill use that one as a core on a brand new one that i can pick up for $700 and then rebuild my other t-5 as a spare or what not. also as far as torque boxes go how do i tell if theyre "torn up" and im deffinatly interested in buying the torque box braces
