I know that this topic has come up before, but I cannot remember the general consensus on this. How soon can I use synthetic oil on a new engine? I am just coming up on 1,000 miles and I want to switch over from "regular" oil to synthetic oil. Is it too soon? Should I wait?

I was told by the shop that built my engine to go 2k miles before switching to a synthetic.

I was told dont do it until your rings have seated. and depending what rings you have, determines the break in period. If you do it too soon you may have problems. Ask your engine builder or ring manufacture.
