So I took my 86 5.0 to the track for the first time ever. I wasn't too impressed with the results, but I was running consistent 13.8-13.9's with 1.9 60ft.

Current set-up
92 5.0 swap t5; draglite suspension(air bag right rear), subframe connectors, superior axles 3.73 gears, eaton posi, 28-11.5-15 MT ET streets, x-303 ford cam, 1.6 scorpion rollers rockers, comp cam roller lifters, ported heads, stock upper/lower intake.

Here's a copy of one of my time sheets.

Reaction-.65
60ft- 1.89
330ft-5.63
ET @ 594ft-8.23
1/8 ET-8.81
1/8 MPH-77.84
1000FT ET-11.54
1/4 ET-13.85
1/4 MPH-96.65

It was a crazy hot humid night and everyone was running slow times, but I'm thinking with GT40 intake I should be in the low 13's. Not bad for my first time out.

IMO your car is a little overcammed for dispacement/heads/intake combo... The GT40 should help open it up a bit. I would expect somewhat better 60' times out of the combo too... Practice will definitely be your best friend. Keep at it, the times arent that bad, you could have done alot worse!

I think it might be alittle over cammed as well. I seem to loose all power around 5500 rpm, so I was shifting at 5000. I am hoping with the intake it might open it up alittle more, if not I might switch to an E cam. For the 60 ft times, I'm going to remove the quad shocks next time out and see if that helps with the launching, I had some tire spin issues and with the hot humid temps the car just wasn't running 100%
