I've been using a buddy's floor jack that just recently went to s*** so I was looking to buy a new one, and also a couple jack stands. Does anyone know of some good quality ones, or ones that are a good deal/inexpensive, and know where to get them? I see a kit from Summit for like 115 but I can get them at the local parts store for way less.

I have gone the cheap route. I buy inexpensive Sears units, and after 5-8 years, they leak and I yard sale them and get another.

Good quality units can be overhauled with new seals and last forever, but, like other things, we don't do that much anymore.

This should be moved to 5.0 Talk.

I have not had any problems with my Craftsmen version.

Check out harbor Frieght tools for jackstands. Get the tall SUV type stands since it takes 24" of room to get a trans out if you use a trans jack. See http://www.harborfreight.com/ or

I agree. I use a pretty nice craftsman jack and jack stands.

I want to get a better one with a larger jack pad on it but I have been using the $20 Goodrench one from Wal-Mart with four of the 2 ton jack stands ($10 a pair) for 8 months now and for 4 months used them every day on my Fox. Since I have been using them on the Cobra and my Grandfathers Ram 1500 and my Aunts Grand Cherokee. Never had any issues and the stands are pretty nice. For $40 bucks it has been my most used tool and work fine, just not a very fast jack.

I have a Walmart low profile jack and an AutoZone 3ton jack. I like the fact that the AutoZone jack has a foot pedal to raise the jack quickly to the car.

Ive been using some 2 ton jack stands for years. dunno who makes them.

I also bought an adapter plate from AutoZone that allows you to convert a regular jack into a transmission jack. Best $50 Ive spent lol.

BTW pepboys jacks suck. Had one blow a seal while the car was being jacked up...
