set of sockets (metric AND standard iirc), breaker bar, ratchet, jack, pliers, (basically the standard mechanics tools) and a ball joint fork with a bfh. if you want the calipers too, a tube nut wrench for the brake line (unless its stripped, then a pair of vise grips come in handy).

My junkyard tools....

-rubber mallet
-bf-hammer/sledge
-bf-screwdriver or something to pry with
-big (up to 2") crescent wrench
-socket set
-breaker bar
-various screwdrivers
-various pliers/needle-nose/snips or dykes/vise-grips
-a flashlight
-zip lock bags for screws/small items
-sharpie
-camera/phone with camera
-a bucket to put tools in
-a jack/ or use one from another car (which is what I usually do)
-pack a blanket in your trunk for dirty items to be placed on
-wd40/pb blaster/small wire brush

and if you have one, a small electric screwdriver comes in handy to save your wrists and arms when you're pressed for time or the screws are long...

A 36" breaker bar and a random tail pipe gets those bolts off.

+1 for exhaust pipe being used as a breaker bar.
