I aplogize that this isnt the right forum for this but here goes...

A close freind of mines neighboor recently passed away. He has what we think is either a 69 or 70 Torino Cobra or Taladega sitting in his backyard. At worst it could just be a plain old Torino fastback. The car has been sitting for over 20 years so it is pretty sad with trees & brush growing over the front end. It does have the shaker hood, 429 (i think), 4 speed & Cobra badging on the side, but it only has a bench seat & doesnt have a rear honeycomb panel. Basically he left it to his family to sell the car & other crap & divide the money up. I am trying to help his son find out if this is a real Torino Cobra or perhaps Taladega. Some guys came & looked @ it & told him that it was just a Torino with stickers on it....BTW, the car looks to be pretty complete & solid other than the dent on the rear left quarter. This could be a badass car 1 day....

If anyone knows where or how I can decode this vin # to find out the real deal about the car, & if anyone is interested it will be for sale as soon as he figures out what it really is....

Anyway here is the vin he gave me (dont know if its correct)

# 0R38J134901

& here are the only crappy pics I have. If u look closely u can see the faded shaker popping out from the hood...

I believe the 429 alone could be very valuable, not positive though... Might also post this in the Classics section.

That's the second Torino I've seen here in two days. '69 is my favorite, but a '70 429 is just as sweet. Hopefully that car will find a home and get restored.

Me & my buddy have been eyeing this car 4 a while, but the old man didnt want to sell it. He then passed a few months ago & left everything for his kids to divide up. His son justs wants to get it out of the backyard, but he does know that its somewhat special. He will probably sell it for a decent price, & I 4 sure am not gonna let him get ripped off. I might even have to sell my 71 chevelle to get the $$$ to take the Torino off his hands.

dude, it's definitely a Torino Cobra:
torinocobra.com 70 vin decoder

and it should look something like this when it's done:

I understand the attraction of the 66-67 Chevelle...but drop that Chevy like a bad habit and jump on that Torino...cars like that don't come around everyday!

LOL...They dont even see eachother because the velle is tucked away in my brothers backyard. The mach doesnt leave my sight. My dream garage would be the shaker combo, the 70 Torino Cobra, 70 Mach 1 428 Cobra jet, & the 03 mach....That would be bad@$$!!!!!
