Torn between TFS Track heat H/C/I or PTK Street Dominator

Okay here it is.

I've just rolled around to finally having enough $$$$ to buy the trick flow kit with an r-series intake manifold instead of the track heat. Now i am second guessing and wondering if i should buy PTK's Street Dominator (http://www.proturbokits.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=122) Kit. It says a stock 5.0 dyno'd at 425rwhp and 450 Ft lbs at 8psi. This car is my daily driver, and my question is would it be reliable if i ran it at 8psi on the stock internals. Is their anychance of failure or malfunction to worry about. My car only has 41,000 miles on it. Please read the whole discription of the kit. It comes with fuel pump and injectors. If you dont think it would be reliable, what boost would be more suitable and what do you think rwhp would be at that psi. If i went with PTK i would do h/c/i later on.

P.S. - How easy would it be to switch from a low psi which could be used everyday to a higher psi i could use when i need to race. Is it a push button thing or lots of tuning?
 
there is always the chance of malfunction, and turbos (like any power adder) can be tempermental. is this your only car? do you have access to another in an emergency when you have an issue?

that kind of boost should be fine on the motor, but to be safe run a compression test and maybe even a leakdown test to be sure.

is your car bone stock right now? if it is, its probably a good idea to at least have tmoss port your lower intake. that should make a huge difference.

the h/c/i would probably be more reliable, in my eyes. i have always known modded turbo cars to be tempermental, so this is just my opinion based on my observations.

depending on the kit's exact contents, you can get an electronic boost controller to turn boost up and down quite easily. the best way to get more info on turbocharging your mustang is at www.turbomustangs.com
 
If this is your everyday driver I suggest getting an H/I/C setup. As stated before any power adder is going to be less reliable and more tempermental... especailly a turbo charger. I think 8 PSI for a stock motor is a bit high. You have 9:1 compression and that is right at the limit of the engine's capability. If it were a supercharger, 8 psi would be just fine. In turbo charged psi, 8 is probably about 12 superchared psi as an example. If this is your weekend car... by all means... go for it because you do not need to depend on it. Just beware that you are at your engine's limit. You will probalby have to change your tranny pretty soon to handle that power too.

remember, stock stangs can take up to around 500hp before the block goes. could possibly take more than that depending on how you drive your car. if you get the turbo, be warey how much boost u really want to run. i saw pictures of people's cracked stock blocks cuz of turbos. they ran too much boost and got their crack on!

im gonna do my HCI first and then consider the turbo after my dyno numbers.
 
Yeah i know what i should do, H/C/I and follow that with suspension. But the sweet sound of my exhaust, a turbo spooling, topped off with a blow off valve is just so appealing. I'm gunna go with H/C/I. Has anyone had any problems with the Track Hit TFS Kit? or any recommendation before i install?
 
i wanted to do a turbo also, but when seeing threads like this http://www.turbomustangs.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=20133

it makes me not get one. and ptk is not the only turbo company that people have problems with. it seems like all of them. so i might be leaning towards a kenny bell supercharger. but i would do the HCI first (which i have sitting in boxes) then get a beater car, then do the power adder.

How do you figure that the boost from a turbo is different than boost from a supercharger? PSI is PSI as far as I know.

As far as you know, that is correct, but once you know more, youll understand how it all works. see the link above..
