well I totaled the truck today. Was heading up to friends house for some PS3 gaming. Another car pulled off a side road in front of me, I never saw them until it was to late and I hit the car going about 50MPH. Both her door and steering wheel air bags went off, neither one of mine did and I slammed my head off the steering wheel. Both of us went to the hospital. I'm fine other then a huge knot above my eye and a black eye that looks like looks like rampage jackson lit me up. Pretty sure the insurance company will total it out, its damaged pretty bad. Better the truck then the Mustang I guess. It was paid off in 2 more payments.

No word yet, did not even talk to the police all that much before we were both taken away. I assume it will be her fault, not much I could really do she just pulled out in front of me. She even said to me " I didn't even see you there" and the EMT in the ambulance w/ me said that their had been lots of accidents in that spot b/c of the corner right before that side road.

glad to hear your okay... i guess it coulda been worse.. good thing you were in a truck.. and ya if you had wrecked your stang she might have been banged up worse by you than the wreck... just kidding. i have to assume that she was at a stop sign and then pulled out? there are SOOOO many wrecks that happen like that.. there are so many four way stops around my house for this reason.. but you cant put a four way at every intersection.. anyways.. glad your okay and her too

Be glad you weren't on a motorcycle. I had two friends meet an untimely end like that on a motorcycle. That sucks really bad though dude. Glad you're ok.

Truck is totalled, no doubt about it.

When I was looking for trucks I considered a Ranger. Then I realized you can get a full size for the same price. That was a no brainer for me.

Glad to see you are ok! I have seen tons of wrecks on other Ranger forums out there and for the most part they seem to hold up reasonably well as far as occupant protection. The truck is a goner though sadly.

I have had 2 Rangers (still have one) and I love them. Sure they are primitive but so am I lol. My 2009 Sport (4.0L/auto pretty loaded) had killer rebates when I bought it and even though it stickered at 22K I got it for 16.5K. Not many full size trucks for that price. Fuel mileage could be better. I average between 18-20mpg with it but it's not terrible. It took forever to break in an loosen up to get that kind of mileage as well! The first 10K miles I had on it I was getting 16-17mpg out of it. Yuck.

Time to upgrade to a Ram.
Easy dude, I don't think he hit his head against the steering wheel quite that hard. :D

Agreed. As someone who's owned 3-Rangers and 2 Bronco II's over the last several years, I can honestly say going to a full size F150 from the mid-size pick-up was the best thing I ever did. If you're going used, shoot for an 11th Generation up (2004-2008). Since the 12th Gens hit the road a couple of years ago, the 11th Gens have come down in price a lot. Nothing on the road of that same era touches them for reliability, durability, build quality, ruggedness, or refinement....that includes Dodge. To be perfectly honest, Dodge didn't start pulling up their boot straps until 2009 with their last overhaul....you know, the one that was mechanically nearly an identical copy of the last generation Ford F-Series. ;)

Thats for all the best well wish's guys. Yeah the truck did hold up well wish I thought to take a few pics of her car w/ my phone but I couldn't even find it for awhile everything was a mess in the truck. Im not srue where they towed her car to, they must have called two different tow companies b/c hers was not as the same lot as mine. Her car took more damage then mine did so the ranger did its job as far are protection considering as hard as the impact was. The morning after I feel how hard I really did hit that car. My eye is swollen shut and I can only get one contact in.

The other thing I'm wondering is about the air bags. Do you think its worth pursuing the issue of why none of mine went off? By all rights considering it was a front impact I figurd one of my would have gone off. Advance sorry's for any typo's I can only get one contact in I cant see crap

I was just wondering why the hell your air bags didnt go off after looking at the pictures. Being that you are ok, I wouldnt worry about it. But if you had elaborate medical expenses from slamming your head on the wheel, then I would maybe look into it. Glad your ok, you can always get another truck.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about the air bags if you didn't have any major injuries. Sucks you're doing the angry pirate for a few days.

I got an 02' F150 a few years back. Just didn't like the styling of the newer F150s at the time. Used it was the same price as a Ranger. Surprisingly, I get about 20mpg on the highway.

Glad your OK...if your going to total it might as well not half arse it.

On the replacement dodge thing...the only dodge pickup worth a damn is the cummins powered versions. Non-diesel...I would rather buy a bike if it was the only choice.

I am REALLY interested to see how these ecoboost F150's end up being like.

I had a student who interned with Cummins and Holsat as an engineer. Cummins makes good engines, but not for Dodge. Dodge insists on a specific failure time for every component. Cummins will make something, and Dodge will say "no," it won't brake soon enough, make it crapier.
