I bought some Ford argent spray paint to touch up some peeling paint on my rims, but it occurs to me that adhesion to the sanded-down aluminum would be better with some sort of spray can primer underneath the argent----anyone got some experienc/advice for me?

What does it say the paint is made for? It might already have a descent bonding primer in it.

Nah---It's Motocraft labled---warning of poison and first aid instruction in several languages on the labe in several languages---so politically correct that there's no room for pertinent info.

The silence on this post is deadening.
Hard to beleive there's 10,000 posts on painting taillight bezels flat black, but no one's touched up wheels.
I've decided to plow ahead w/no primer.
I'm not going to paint the whole wheel, just touch up some spots where the existing paint ihas bubbled up.
Will do a good 3-stage sanding and hit it w/a tack rag.
I went to Pep Boys & bought a spray can of Duplicolor clear to go over the argent with.
After I do this, I'll report back.

Definitely let us know how it goes. I need to do the same on my 98 cobra rims.
