So I went from the torq thrust 17x9 to the set of GT500 rims pulled fresh off a GT500 - rims, tires, TPMs. Now the message center is saying TPM Fault every time I start the car and I have to hit the reset button.

Is the car's computer going to re-learn in time or will I have to take it to the dealer? I would hate to do this because I'd have to restore my tune to factory and then put it back.

Thanks for any input.

You can buy a TPMS calibration tool for about $20 I believe and calibrate them yourself (do a search on here for TPMS to find the instructions). You could also take it to a tire shop - most by now have the calibration tool. It will cost you a bit (not much) but at least you won't have to screw with your tune etc.

You have to let the car know there is new tpms sensors (new wheels) that it has to look for. Two ways to solve it that I know of.

1) take it to Ford and have them to reset it. They might charge you, they might not.

2) Buy the Ford TPMs tool (about $20) and you can reset them yourself anytime you want. The tool is about the size of a key fob and it takes about 2 minutes to reset the tpms.

*I have the tool in my car.. I'll go grab a pic and the part number for you on my break.

You can try a Discount Tires store, they did it for me for free. Good Luck.
