you overheated your car and you care about the TPS?

ok too answer your question NO overheating the engine will not ruin a tps. but it can destroy a lot of other more expensive stuff.

My mechanic looked into things. The engine and heads are fine (thank goodness), but during the diagnostics he pulled codes for the emissions system. It's the same problem I had months ago. Code was 411 - unable to control idle at low RPM. I replaced the TPS last time and it solved the problem. That is why I was asking if the heat from an overheated engine could have damage the TPS.

when my IAC went, i cleaned the piss out it, and did nothing. still stumbled and everything else. bought new IAC, fixed the probrem.
fact is Cleaning IAC does not always fix the probrem

cleaning the iac is a hit or miss repair.. it may work for a day or so but for the most part figure on a new one every 40k on these cars... my car needs one now.

BTW TPS's hardly ever go bad.. thats the last place i look when i do EEC work.

i recently did drop my TPS on to concrete floor. now i'm having bit of idle hangup issue. can THAT destroy TPS?

This raises a very good question and adds to my point :D.
Just how easy is it to damage the internals of a TPS either through heat or vibration. I know that some (if not all) are spring actuated. Is the spring that easy to break?? I would hope not. :(
