I had the tsb done on mine back in June of this year due to the 1st gear shifting acting up,and then problem started again last month(and i don't drive her daily, put less then 4000 kilometers this year),so i went into the dealer i deal with today to have my Ford tech guy look at it,and sure enough,it's got to come out again, even though it got the tsb done, the 1st and reverse give me a hard time to get into gear, sometimes when going into 1st,it will make a heavy clunk sound,or sometimes a slight grind into 2nd.He thought maybe the clutch had something to do with it since i had them put in a new clutch at the same time (centreforce d/f),but after the both of us in the stang while he test drove it around the area in a stop and go situation,he new it was the trans. After my expirience with this trans,i miss my ol' 5.0L's "World Class" T-5.
So anyways,i am putting the stang away soon for the winter sleep,so he said when it is time to bring it out ,to drop her off,and he will pull the trans out and re do the tsb on her.I'ts gonna be tight as my warranty ends in April .
Good luck with yours.
Oh,find out if the service manager you are seeing at your dealer works on comission,or for salary, that might make the difference if he will accept the warranty work or not.Being on comission,he will do what ever it takes to make money off of you, being on salary it wouldn't bother him if it is covered under warranty cause he is getting a good pay check at the end of the day regardless.LOL!!Just a rumor i herd.

Dude, just pull the top fill plug out. FIll it through the shifter, when it is done leaking out the fill hole, put the plug in, seal the shifter and put it in, then go for a ride. That is all. Now guess work.

If only it was that simple with these transmissions, as well your car doesnt have the transmission that this thread is about. What works for your tranny doesnt work for these ones.

WELL WHAT DO YA KNOW...

FORD COULDNT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well now its the 2nd time in 6 months ive brought my car in to them so twice now its logged on file. Seems that every time i leavee the car there overnight we have a 70 degree day the next day..

So now the waiting game, the car will be going back in again next time i see the temp is going to be in the 40-50's and ill be going with a print out of the TSB in hand.

I spoke with the service manager and he said once they can duplicate the problem they can go to work fixing it, until then his hands are tied.

Did anyone try actual light weight gear oil in their transmission? Yeah I know that's not what Ford or Tremek says, but wouldn't it be worth a shot? I ran gear oil in all my manual transmissions in other cars without any trouble.
Just curious....

I am having the same problem with the 1-2 shift and sometimes 2-3. I called Tremec and they said it was 3.2 qts as the fill level. I would call tremec and ask for their advice. They seemed a lot more interested in helping me when I called them. Ford has also denied the fix for me. They said that the clunking is normal in a manual transmission and that it needs to start popping out of gear before they will perform any work on it. I asked if I could install a short throw to help with the problem and they told me they would void my warranty so I am thinking about canceling it. I feel that I could use the money I would get back by canceling it to fix the problems that Ford is going to keep denying. Stick it to them and cancel the warranty. Then use the money to buy the TSB kit. My $.02.

They dont have to have mine pop out of gear, they just want to hear it grind. So im waiting till it gets nice and cold and its going back in.

The service manager told me as soon as they verify what im telling them they will fix it, its just been too warm and the tranny hasnt been doing it when i bring it in. The cold weather will fix that real quick..

Im still keeping my fingers crossed. The warranty is a good thing, my pinion seal was leaking-replaced no questions asked

They just have to verify and experience the problem first hand or their hands are tied.

The service manager and I had a fairly long talk and he wants to fix the problem. He told me to wait until its colder and bring it back.
