I have a 2000GT with between 300-320 hp and i am looking to put 4.10 gears in it. I was wondering if i would have traction issues in first gear. I dont wanna lose the pull from first (i dont race i just like the first gear pulls). It is a daily driver that will never see the track so no i dont launch. I have 2001 cobra rims with NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire - 245/45-17, J&M rear lower control arms, tokico hp shocks, Vogtland lowering springs.

I'm more interested in how you have over 300 HP. I'm assuming this is at the crank?

With a decent set of tires and a driver mod you will be fine.

Well when I went from 355's to 410's there is a small traction loss in 1st,but not only some loss but your 1st gear gets shorter.Normal driving you find that almost immediately your goin into 2nd.

Ive gotten to when cruising town I dont even use 1st at all, just start off in 2nd,and I use 5th in town at around 45+.

I know your running a GT and mines a mach but your claiming 300+hp so that would be somewhat on par with mine.

Also my tires play a part.Had Fuzion ZR-1's on it....not my choice, hated them,no traction. Then I got Yokohoma S.drive and I love them, great traction in dry and wet.Ive had them over a year now and hardly show wear.

I have 4.10's and make 450+rwtq on spray, my car hooks all day everyday from any sort of 1st gear roll.

My set up:

Strange 10 way adjustable shocks and struts
UPR doubel adjustable upper control arms w/ spherical bushings
UPR single adjustable lower control arms w/ spherical bushings
315/35/17 Nitto 555R drag radials

In order for you to be able to hook from a roll, you are going to need weigh transfer and a good tire. My car honestly spends 99% of it's life being drove on the streets, just cruising around. The strange 10 way adjustables and upper and lower control arms is probably the best investment I have ever made on my car. The car rides 1000000000x better now and is SOOOOO much smoother.

4.10's or bust. You can still spin with the stock gear if you don't know how to drive.

Not necessarily. I love my 3.73's but mine is a DD and has yet to go to the track. If it was an auto or a weekend warrior car then I say 4.10s or even 4.30's for an auto, it all depends on how you drive your car and what you want from it.

My car spun more with factory gears than it does with 4.10's
