I have a 94 Automatic Gt. First of all i need to tell you a little about what is happening to the transmission or what I think is happening to the transmission. When i drive normally for about 10 to 15 minutes and I punch the gas my car wont downshift from 2nd to 1st. Also when i pull up to a red light and try to punch it when it turns green, my car get stuck in second gear it seems. I cant even spin my tires at all when i am stuck in this position. Now i took my car out tonight for about and hour and I had no problem at all, it seemed like my car was working fine. It also seems this problem happens when the car is warm, and i know it nothing to do with the engine because if i shut off my car and comeback about an hour later when the engine is cooled my car will still have the same exact problem. Also i hear a whistling that comes front/middle of the car. If any of you guys have any clue on what this is help me out or if it is something possibly other then the transmission.

whistling may be the throw-out bearing, and probably due to bad clutch adjustment. time to invest in an adjustable clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster (i love my UPR set-up!).

oh, it would REALLY help if you listed your mods in your sig--makes it a lot easier for us to help you out.

Can you manually shift into first when it hot? I manual shift my car 90% of the time I drive it.

What does your tranny fluid look and smell like when you pull the dipstick?

how did you cahnge the fluid, jsut drop the pan and replace it? If so you may want to think about having it flushed. That will have near 100% of the fluid and get any deposits in the trans. Jsut dropping the pan changes ~30-40% of the fluid in the trans.

I had a shop where my friend works drain the fluid for me and im pretty sure they flushed everything out. Do you think that it could just be that my trans is shot. My car only has 73 k miles on it.

You could have something in the fluid that blocks the filter on occassion. Sometimes it gets sucked up there and causes a block and sometimes it stays to the side of the pan. :?

Kinda strange that it's just 1st gear though. As far as your mileage, it really depends on how you drive the car. Mine made it aprox. 115,000 miles but it had been worked on once. If you push it hard, it could very well be on it's way out. Usually O/D is the first to go. :?

Well guys thanks for all of the info that you have given me, the first thing I am going to do this spring is my paint job and if my car starts acting up again ill probably get my trans rebuilt and upgraded to a drag/everyday driver since there is a mustang shop in my town. Also have to throw in the torque converter too.
