whats up everyone?? well for those who dont know me i talk in the 4.6 forum all the time and for my next car im looking at a 95 GT convertable. well i will have a good chunk of change to put into the car so i was looking for some help in some areas of the 95 5.0.

first question: the 95's im looking at have around 90k miles on them and im wondering if i upgraded the clutch and just simply rebuilt the t-5 tranny could it hold around 500rwhp? one of my friends suggested the tremec TKO tranny, but another friend says lots of 5.0s with big power still retain the t-5 so i dunno what to do.

second question: I want a good suspension for launchin at the track, but is still good for everyday driving. i want it to be lowered and handle pretty well. i was looking at swapping in the saleen suspension, id like a WHOLE suspension set not just springs, what do you guys think are good?

plans for power and the car would be to rebuild the engine and set it up to handle some boost, then put a twin turbo setup on the car. i would of course upgrade the fuel and everything and then i wanted 3.73 gears or 4.10's, and probably do the steeda tri ax shift kit and upgrade the clutch. straight pipes for exhaust with no cats or mufflers for exhaust.

im not sayin this would all happen right away and its long term but those are the general ideas and plans for now. i heard with a turbo i would be better going with 3.73 gears but i dont know. any imput i can get from anyone that knows alot about the cars or has prior experience with it i owuld really appreciate it!!!! and please bear with me guys i have some background but im not gonna know as much about the cars as alot of you guys.

the stock t5 is only rated for around 300hp i belive. go with a viper spec t56 as for rear end gears since you want to run a turbo i would go with a 3.73to prevent wheelspin. as for exhaust if your gonna be N/A for a while before you go turbo get a set of long tube headers, a prochamber mid-pipe and a straight through muffler like magnaflow. our cars with no cats/mufflers sound like poo

thanks alot. i figure the exhaust would go on at some point then i would change to straight pipes later on if i wanted. a guy in my area had his with straight pipes and it actually sounds really good. dunno for sure whats all done to it besides that though.

there is a muffler shootout in the 94-95 FAQ at the top of the page, you may want to check it out...no muffs (straight pipes) actually made the LEAST amount of power.....

....now onto the tranny...i would also suggest a Viper Spec T-56....it will hold just about anything your ever gonna want to throw at it....id say go with a 3.55 or 3.73 if you wanna do boost....id also look into big single turbo kits as well...they seem to be just as good if not better for making big power...

...suspension wise forget Saleen...give Maximum Motorsports a call or visit their website @ www.maximummotorsports.com that is the way you wanna go suspension wise IMO.....

....Anything else feel free to ask....I'm up at college and like to procrastinate so im on the forums till all hours of the night and morning

thanks alot, ill prolly have more questions at some point. I do think the singles are better for big power but the twins can be just as big and will make more than enough power for me besides help to defeat all the "lag" associated with a single. why do you not like the saleen suspension?

nothing really wrong with Saleen i guess...just Max Motorsports is better....and to tell you the truth i dont think THAT much is different between the Saleen cars and ours....

thats good to know, thanx. i just rode in a saleen and was REALLY impressed and i liked the hadnling and ride quality. Since you seem to know alot you know where i could get a good rebuild kit for the 5.0 engine(higher quality parts too, capable of handling boost)? i have found some and i found the heads i would like (gt 40 x heads) but the internals are harder to decide on. found lots of rebuild kits but most of them cant handle alot of boost and if i buy each piece for the internals it will cost alot more.

how much boost are you looking to run...personally if i had my way id start with a dart or FMS R302 block...and id look into places like DSS, CHP, etc....id do a search on these forums(94-95) and on the 5.0 Tech forums for rebuilds...you can do a lot with stock stuff with the right tune....
