Tranny cooler?

Im running a 2800 stall speed converter,and Im installing a trans go shift kit.The guy at precision ind. told me I wont need a tranny cooler. Is this correct advice??

Yeah, you should have a cooler. I went with a Earl's 19 row cooler and disconnected the radiator cooler. It seems to cool really good, after beating on the beast for a while I can still hold my hand on the cooler. They aren't cheap but they work really well. Mine is mounted on the underside of the bumper just in front of the A/C evaporator and radiator.

If you get a stall, definetly get a cooler. A larger stall converter builds more heat than the factory unit. Especially in town or slow driving because it slips alot more. I had a 3000 converter put in awhile back and they didnt tell me I needed a cooler. I soon found out. I burned up that trans in under a year. But it wasnt the best quality built trans in the world either. My advice, get a cooler, its like insurance for your trans. Good Luck,

Always run a cooler with an aod, even a stock one.

Looks like Im buying a tranny cooler-----------Are they expensive???

Shouldn't be more than 40-60 or so. Well worth the expense. Heat is the number 1 or 2 causes of an aod failure. Beatin the piss out of it is probably number 1.
