searched to no avail.

wondering if you guys running the 3550 could help me out w/ a pretty bad leak.

there are two seals, correct? front AND tail-shaft seal?

on the way to the painter's place, i noticed a rather large puddle (for only having been stationary for about 10 minutes--probably about 1/5th of a quart) of ATF while parked outside a buddy's place.

got under the car at the shop and saw ATF all over the tranny, but can't really tell if it's from the front or back. we're gonna drop the tranny so i might as well replace all the seals while it's out and would llike to know how many there are.

thanks, gents!

ttt--just realized that my local parts places might not carry stuff for the 3550.

would the seals from a 99+ GT (w/ the 3650, i think) work?

well I can tell you there is a front and rear seal.

There are also 2 inspection plates at the top and the area where the shifter is.

I'd put my money on the rear seal or a drain/fill plug not tightened (unlikely but it happens, lol)

as far as interchanging seals...I couldn't help you

my guess is that if the fluid was all over the tranny, it was the rear seal... fluid gets on drive shaft and just sprays everywhere.. just an idea. could be just the seal itself or possibly grooves in the driveshaft.. but that wouldnt make sense cause you say it just randomly started

my guess is rear tranny seal

surprisingly, my local Oreily had the 3550 listed under the 94, so i bought the front and rear seals--came out to $14. not bad at all.. we didn't get to do that today (but i did get the cobra brakes on, finally) though, so first thing tomorrow...
