These trannies take around 3.2 quarts. In your owners manual there is a section for this. I'm not sure about the synchromax, but I use Redline D4 ATF and the trans shifts very smooth. I think that the synchromax is okay for these trannies. I change mine every 15000 miles.

Regular dextron atf will allow the friction needed for smoother high rpm shifts. I had the syncromax in mine and switched back to the dextron. It's a noticeable difference.

I've used it too and have it in the garage. It's a fact that regular dextron will give better high rpm shifts do to the need for some friction for proper syncronizer operation. The Syncromax will lubricate and protect the transmission internals better, but it's a trade off. If you have a flawlessly operating clutch system, the Syncromax is a good thing. If you have any trouble at all with high rpm shifting, dextron is the way to go. A lot of big time drag racers stick with the dextron. I'll be trying the Syncromax again now that I have a re-engineered clutch from Centerforce. Just showed up yesterday.

Yes, they sent me a re-engineered clutch package. It has less weights on the diaphram and the spacing is different. Just put it in today and it feels real nice. The clutch engages about 4" from the floor where the first one was at about 2''. I had the first gen package and ended up putting a .150 shim behind the throwout brg. That was pretty nice, but for speed shifting, the new one is better.
