I don't think it's the torque converter or front pump, since both are physically attached the the flywheel (flexplate) and spin whenever the engine is running. Now, if the AOD uses a lockup torque converter, then maybe the converter clutch is'nt releasing and causing this problem. Try raising the vehicle off the ground, put the vehicle in gear (other than park or neutral) with the engine OFF, front wheels chocked if using a floor jack, parking brake released, and try to rotate the driveshaft. It should be difficult to rotate, but should rotate smoothly. If it won't budge, then something may be busted inside the trans or rear end.
