Tranny help!!!

little more info about the car/mods would be more helpful. I'm not an AOD specialist but i would think it would be something more to do with codes, IAC, or MAF issues more than the actual tranny. i would pull codes and see whats up.

Also I'm not an AOD expert, but if something was physically screwed up inside the trans (torque converter somehow locked up), when the trans was put into gear, it would just stop the engine, like dropping the clutch in a manual with your foot on the break.

I was cracking up about the title of the post "Tranny help!!!" by a guy with a screen name "ilovewomen".

I don't think it's the torque converter or front pump, since both are physically attached the the flywheel (flexplate) and spin whenever the engine is running. Now, if the AOD uses a lockup torque converter, then maybe the converter clutch is'nt releasing and causing this problem. Try raising the vehicle off the ground, put the vehicle in gear (other than park or neutral) with the engine OFF, front wheels chocked if using a floor jack, parking brake released, and try to rotate the driveshaft. It should be difficult to rotate, but should rotate smoothly. If it won't budge, then something may be busted inside the trans or rear end.
