hey guys thanks for your help on my other issuses, but heres a big one. my trans in in the trunk in pieces and has been for 2 weeks and will be there for about 3 more, the clutch assembly is exposed and the bellhousing is off too. will the clutch/flywheel and bearing be ok for the time or will i need to replace or regrease those things. any help will be greatly appreciated

i would put a plastic garbage bag around it and tape it to try and fend off moisture and then check for any signs of moisture or rust when you go to put it back in and fix acordingly

You can leave it like that, it's not an issue. the bellhousing isn't really sealed against the elements anyway, it just has a little dustcover on it. It may bet a litter surface rust on the flywheel, but not in any place where it's an issue. Anywhere you get surface rust on a friction surface, it's just like a brake rotor. As soon as you use the clutch once, it will brush it all right off.

Does the trunk close?

If the parts are exposed to the raw (unshielded) elements, I would also baggie the friction components and the TOB (garbage bags for the frictions, and put the TOB in 20 sealed sandwich bags to try and protect it. :) ).

I don't like having water *sit* on parts like that - it doesn't happen when they're installed in the car.
