My brother has an 02 GT that make a wierd nosie, its like a cross between a rattle, chirping and squeaky noise, that is only there when its in a gear. It goes away when he pushes the clutch in but other than that it gets worse when he gets on gas, starts to make the rattle noise real loud and its real bad around 3000rpm. He has replaced the clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing on it. When he first bought the car(hes had it about 3 1/2yrs.), wasnt to great with a stick, he hit second gear instead of fourth at about 100mph, he took it back to the dealer and all they found wrong with it was a bent valve(lucky if you ask me) and they replaced the head. The noise has progressivly got worse since then and I/he doesn't have ideas about whats causing the noise, I think its somthing to do with what he did but I don't much about manuals, so any help would be appreciated thanks. Oh yeah and someone told that the syncros in the tranny might be bad, but I don't know.

does it do it in all gears? does it do it in neutral?

if it's only while in any forward gear with his foot off the clutch then it's internal tranny. most likely a bearing inside gone bad.

While going through tranny noises and svt is on the job can u help me with a noise ive been having?? It is quite odd...i have been getting a weird rattle and vibration. It occurs when the vehicle is at idle speed (600-1000 rpm) and it follows the motor speed. It disapates slightly as the rpms rise. Now as for the known problems i have with the car... i was in a minor accident recently but the car still drives, accelerates, and brakes straight, with no damage to the suspension except my sway bar mounts (bushings and hangers) moved due the frame movement which was less than 1 inch towards driver side... My throwout bearing is chirping like a bird and i get bad vibration in the steering wheel when releasing the clutch to take off. The other main problem is bad u joints which i plan on fixing this week. Now another thing is the tranny might be leaking at the rear main seal... if it was low on tranny fluid would that cause a vibration like i have. This vibration occur whether the clutch out or in, neutral or in gear and is the worst at around 700 rpms(warm idle.) .... I just hope that aint a crank bearing That would be very bad.... i dont think its one though.
