tranny or converter???

I just recently put a new flexplate and converter in my stang... it ran fine for probly 100 miles... but now whenever i gas it revs up real high before it starts going... its a roadrunner 2800 stall... if im at a stop... and hammer it... it revved up to 5500 so i finally let go... that car didnt move... and even when im cruisin if i let go of the pedal and push back down it revs up again even at 50 mph... do you think my converters defective or maybe the tranny cant handle the stall??? HELP PLEASE!!!

also... i stripped on of the bolts on the pan and its been leaking tranny fluid... any chance that being low on fluid is causing this????

oh geez...either it is low on fluid, or you have the tv cable adjusted wrong

Yea when i was putting it back in i asked on here about adjusting the tv cable and what special way to do it if there is and nobody responded... its an AOD so i wasnt sure if you had to adjust the cable... how do you do it... so you do you think those are the only problems???

you need a pressure gauge to go in one of the ports on the side of the tranny.

if it IS the TV cable, and youve driven it a bit (100 miles i think you said) then it is likely you have worn out the friction material in your tranny (burned up) from too low tv pressure.

Not the tv cable, the tv cable only effect the what gear the tranny runs in. It wouldn't make your tranny slip like you are describing. Who make the 2800 roadrunner converter.

Either the converter is stalled wrong or your low on fliud but you should be able to tell if its low on fluid.

i just reread foxstang9050's post and he said it "ran fine for 100 miles" and then started to act up. so if he stopped using it, then it may be alright. but yes, the tv cable WILL eat your AOD if given the chance.

ok its most likely low on fluid then... makes a **** load of noise too.... because it was runnin fine for like i said a while... then let it sit... it dripped a lot of fluid... now its slipping... i'll throw in some more fluid then try it... but first im going to adjust the tv cable

Might be too late man. It may have already burned up your clutches. Hope some fluild will fix the problem.

you should leave the cable adjusting to a professional but have them check the tranny before anything. a misadjusted cable can ruin a tranny withing minutes i here sometimes. why didn't you check the fluid before you posted anyway. just asking

Because my dipstick tube is the most innaccurate thing on my car... its always full... actually over full... i drained everything out of the tranny... put a qt in the converter... and 10 in the tranny... FULL... but i know AOD holds 12 so i added that extra qt... still FULL... it leaked fluid constantly for about a month... doesnt have enough to leak any more... but still... FULL... so my dipstick is no help

you checked the tranny dipstick running right? let it warm up, go through all positions on the shifter, check warm idling in park
