Well, for the past couple months I've been having a little trouble with my C4. IT'll shift fine in the morning, but once I go for a drive or start idling around somewhere there will be this really nasty sound and slip from 1st to 2nd. I thought it might be the bands so I went ahead and adjusted them today (10ftlbs, then back off 1.75). Didn't fix the problem. Level is good and a filter was replaced maybe 6K ago.

I'm starting to think that the clutches are starting to go. I didn't have any material in the filter when I pulled it off, but ya never know.

Now my dilemma. Does this sound about right, time for a rebuild? If it is... I have two options, I can build this c4 and put it back in, or I can build the AOD I have. The problem I see with the AOD is the torque converter.... whereas if I built it up for the engine I am going to build, I'm pretty sure it won't be good since the converter will be made for the more cam/power/torqu etc.? Is this right? What are my options? What are some of y'alls advice out there? If this sounds like rebuild time, should I go with the c-4 just rebuilt for now or build up the AOD and live with it until the motor is built?
Thanks
THe Swede

The problem might be in the internal seals, they get old with age and dried out if the car isn't driven regularly. Then the oil starts to bypass them, giving the slipping problem. Had the same problem from a C-4 from a 67 Stang that wasn't driven enough. Lasted 3 months in my V8 Ranger.
