Heres the story, I have an 87 GT with a Lentech auto and Mac longtube headers. When I installed the trans I junked the factory cooler lines and just used rubber ones on the new TCI trans cooler. Heres the problem headers get hot, rubber lines dont like heat. Ive gone through two lines and it makes a huge freakin mess not to mention cant drive the car with trans fluid spraying on the headers. So right now Ive got some cheesie heat wrap on the lines but there is almost no way to keep them off the headers. Ive got them routed straight up along the inside of the right fenderwell then they go into the backside of the headlights and to the cooler. I know braided lines would be the best but dont know what kind of fittings to get or what size. Any help would be appretiated, thanks.

I know you said you junked the factory lines., but you must have atleast the factory quick disconect fitting going into the tranny and part of the origninal line attatched to them to slide the rubber hose over right? If so what about just getting a set of cooler lines from a similar sized car and using a short piece of hose to connect them to the hard lines coming out of the tranny and then route them where you want. I know what you mean about ATF on hot exhaust. When I put my cooler on I overfilled my tranny. My bright idea was to pull the return line from the cooler and run it into a bottle and crank the car for a sec to get some fluid out. I didn't take into account how much a V8 shakes on start up it turned my bottle over and the hose sparyed all over my engine. Made a huge mess and stunk like death!!!!!

I routed mine behind the trans dipstick tube, then over the starter, droped down from there to the front. I am running two 24,000 gvw B&M coolers.

Yes, it has all rubber lines from the trans to the coolers, I didn't know what I was going to end up with for coolers, so did it with rubber lines. It has worked fine so far. I had to add a second cooler to keep the temp where I want it with the 3,500 stall speed. If no more changes, I will go to braided lines in the Spring.

Have you burned any yet? I dont really understand, isnt it different then a Mustang? I mean I guess its basiclly the same setup, right? Are you runnin longtubes? Okay from the trans straight forward, between the dipstick and the trans, over the starter and then down. Did you put any kind of heat wrap on them? Just use zip ties to pin them where you want? Thanks for stickin with me man this is a pita. Oh yeah Im runnin 3/8 trans cooler lines, you the same?
