Trans input shaft seal leak on 2000 v6

Just looked under the car and saw what looks to be a large leak from the trans input shaft seal. Anyone who has had this replaced can you give me a idea of the cost. Also what should i have done when i have this replaced? Also how much time do i have to take care of this if i keep a eye on the trans fl level.

Trans input shaft, are you sure it's not the rear main seal on the engine? it is red fluid right? And last, you DO mean input shaft, and not the tailshaft to the driveshaft correct? I never hear of the input shaft leaking fluid before.
