My trans went and I want to upgrade. It's an early '01 with T-45 OD. What trans bolt up with out changing anything? I would like something alittle stronger. I tried to get Ford to fix it under my ESP and it was declined. Was denied for aftermarket shifter(forgot to put stock one back in) and excessive rubber in the rear wheel wells.

Could always clean the rubber off and swap shifters then try another dealer to have it covered. Just because one dealer denied the claim another may do it for you. As long as they didnt contact the company thats providing coverage the next dealer wont have any clue about your previous history. But if all fails get a viper or cobra r spec t56.

t56 is the best way to go. you need a new crossmember and a shorter driveshaft. other than that it will bolt up.

Even tho it looks like a T56 is now in the picture i figured id share some info, although it may vary from brand to brand. I work in a Honda / VW service dept as an advisor and have to run vin checks daily. We have had some similiar issues like this and from my knowledge its not filed in the dealers computer unless your advisor makes it his duty. We get alot of VW owners and a few Civic Si owners who track their cars and i have personally done warranty work for them without questions. with extended warranty plans when the advisor makes the call to get repairs approved they have to give them the run down of the problems at hand and if the vehicle looks like its been tracked or so on. Ive only had one extended warranty company actually send someone to inspect a vehicle. Really the only other ways i have seen a warranty be declined is if the vehicle has been totaled, sometimes stolen, or used as a demo. just wanted to share some info but like i said it may vary from dealer to dealer and by warranty companies. If there is anybody out there who is buying a new vehicle and considering an extended plan please read the fine print. We get way to many people in that have no idea what they have purchased but they claim to have a FULL warranty aka bumper to bumper till my car hits 10000000 miles. One more thing is when you buy a new vehicle a majority of dealers mine included apply the interior and exterior protectants before the vehicle even hits to lot. so what your really buying is some paperwork for coverage that usually wont be honored.

try other dealers after you take your shifter off. Ford communicates with other dealerships about as good as they do their customer service....
