Transmission Fluid Question

Hey does my shifter show the trans level? I have taken the shifter off down to the hole that has trans fluid in it, if this is down somewhat, is this indicative that it needs filled up? And can I just add a little mercon v in the shifter hole to bring the level up? 98 GT 5 speed.

No. Any fluid in the shifter area will be from splash lubricstion from the main case of the trans.

only way to check fill level is to pull the top plug and see if fluid is filled up to that level
