i just did my fluid change today and i can't get it to seal for anything!

it came with a rubber gasket which is junk!

then went back to the parts sore to get a regular one like it had when i took it off...

i was told not to put anything on it like gasket maker etc...

do you think i should put some on? very lite?

any tips ?

are you torqueing the bolts evenly to 8-10 ft lbs...this is very important you can overtighten the bolts and break the seal...i always liked the rubber gaskets over the cork if thats what your using..

Go to FORD and get a rubber-over-steel gasket that will not only seal real good, but wont flop all over the place when youre trying to put the pan back, and wont push out like cork or straight rubber, if you happen to overtighten a couple of bolts.

I'd agree about the rubber-over-metal gasket. Also, the pan edge (where the bolts go through) might be uneven (it's pot-metal) and that can cause some issues. A new pan is not a bad thing if this is an issue.

Good luck.
