Transmission has had it!

Well not 300 miles after my motor blew and I finished installing my 2000GT PI Engine, the transmission will not let me into 2nd, 4th, or Reverse. I am going to take a closer look today but I am already leaning toward buying a new one as this one has 150K miles. So what are my options?

Cost to have this one rebuilt?
Cost to rebuild it myself?
Cost of an already rebuilt T45?
Cost of a TKO?
Cost of swapping in a T56 6 speed?

I always thought I have bad luck with cars....idk what could be next.

I would use this opportunity to upgrade to a better tranny if money permits.

According to my Summit catalog:
T-56 = $2,259.95
Cobra R 5-Speed (Don't know the code) = $1,897.95

I couldn't tell you which from the options you listed is better, sorry.

Is a T-56 a direct swap or do you have to get a different driveshaft? Anything else needed?

How about a T3650 with 55,000 miles on it from my mustang I hit a bear with

haha oh the bear car eh? I cant imagine what that was like...

I can get a T-56 online for around 1500, then what do I need? A different input shaft, and have my driveshaft cut down? Is that it?

I don't know why... but I just imagined that poor bear laying dead on the road with a drive shaft sticking out its ass. I need to get some sleep.

get a good used 3650....a t-56 in your car is gonna suck....more weight + 2.97 first gear = suck for N/A car

you're crazy!!
a T56 would be the best upgrade he could do. the 3650 is a weak POS! i wouldnt waste the money on another. a TKO is about $2000 for everything and a T56 will be about $2500 for everything.

i just picked up a t-56 for 1500, I already have the 8 bolt flywheel and clutch, wonder if that will fit. What else do I need besides the new crossmember and shortened driveshaft?
